Michelle-Lee Ahye makes history with sprint gold-medal victory

Stellar Group athlete Michelle-Lee Ahye has made history with a stunning gold-medal success at the Commonwealth Games.

Michelle-Lee became Trinidad and Tobago’s first Women’s 100m winner, outpacing her rivals with a strong finish then punching the air in triumph as she crossed the finish line.

“I hope the younger runners can see me as a role model,” said Michelle-Lee at the Carrara Stadium on  Australia’s Gold Coast.

“I think my family and country will be very proud. It means a lot to me.”

Stellar Group Director of Athletics John Regis said: “Its nice to see talent rise to the top and Michelle’s victory was all about her talent, belief and execution.

“Michelle has worked hard for this, and truly deserved the win. I am sure she is very proud of being Trinidad and Tobago’s first ever winner in this event.  We at Stellar are very proud of her and know there is still more to come.”

Stellar client Melissa Courtney claimed bronze in the Commonwealth Games 1500m with a new personal best.

Melissa, who is a member of Poole Athletics Club, clocked 4:03.44 to take third place in the Australian Gold Coast final.
