Stellar celebrates first big NFL deal as Watson joins Broncos

Stellar Group has pulled off its first big NFL deal as Menelik Watson joins the Denver Broncos.

The British-born offensive tackle signed a three-year deal with the 2015 Super Bowl winners, in a move negotiated by Stellar USA president Reggie Johnson.

The deal is a particularly sweet one for Menelik, 28, who feels the Broncos are the right team with the right set-up for him at this stage in his career.

Menelik, who previously starred for the Oakland Raiders, said: “For me, it wasn’t really about chasing a contract. It was about chasing the right situation. It’s about going to the situation that’s going to elongate my career.

“I can’t really put it into words, honestly. It’s a fresh start. It’s everything to me. It’s everything to my family.”

Stellar USA launched in late January and is headed by respected NFL and NBA agent Reggie Johnson working closely with Stellar chairman Jonathan Barnett and director Joshua Barnett. The deal marks the first time that a sports agency based in Europe has negotiated an NFL transfer.

Reggie said: “This is a great deal for Menelik and another great deal for Stellar. It shows that regardless of the sport, we always do the best for our clients.

“Stellar USA is really taking off and we are building up a roster of exciting young athletes who have put their trust in us to help them become stars.”

Stellar director Joshua Barnett said: “It is very satisfying to have been able to help Menelik get the move he wanted and shows you why it was right for Stellar to move into the American market.

“We have a very close relationship with all our clients and it is this commitment to people and their needs and aspirations that sets us apart from all other agencies”.
